Warm up like you mean it (BW only)
Once warm, it’s hard to stop until my tank is almost empty.
A good warm up heightens my awareness and primes my mind and body to work
Once you start, it’s hard to stop ⛽️⛽️
Similar to diving into a cold pool first thing in the morning for swim practice.
You don’t want to do it, but as soon as you’re in, you keep going..
BUT 1st. WHY DO WE DO THIS?
Physical activity is vital in improving and maintaining strength, flexibility and balance
Movement is preventative medicine 🩺
In this case, a dynamic warmup before functional training increases blood flow and muscle temperature
Which is most important for injury prevention and avoiding excessive tearing or over stretching the muscle
The key is whole body movement to get blood circulating into our muscles
Followed by dynamic stretching to activate a variety of muscles with low impact functional movement
This will cause the muscle to absorb more blood to lengthen more gently
More blood increases the capacity of work and the lengthening increases range of motion (ROM)
